Building Bones

about

Building Bones was written during the pandemic 2020 when we were coming out of lockdown and into the summer I turned 30 - the song wrote itself and I guess it's about re-parenting and what makes up who we think we are + who we are - ego and spirit - the journey home to myself.

lyrics

walking breaking building bones
change shape outgrow our clothes
mother made me safe
dad pushed me out the basket
taught me to be brave
baby what you want ask for it

you could be a good girl
but you decide what that is for ya
put on your life jacket
before you put on his theirs or her's

mum i need to cut the umbilical cord
be my own mother but i can"t afford it
i'm my own dad now
and i'm my own lover
and only child looking for a brother
looking to be loved
the way a mother and father would
but i'm not special that way to anyone else
noone can love me the way that i love myself

walking breaking building bones
change shape outgrow our clothes
mother made me safe
dad pushed me out the basket
taught me to be brave
baby what you want ask for it

you could be a good girl
but you decide what that is for ya
put on your life jacket
before you put on his theirs or her's

oooooooooooo

walking breaking building bones
change shape outgrow our clothes
mother made me safe
dad pushed me out the basket
taught me to be brave
baby what you want ask for it

you could be a good girl
but you decide what that is for ya
put on your life jacket
before you put on his theirs or her's
